The Energy Breakthrough is held each year in november and oberon high competes in the 24 hour Hybrid (duel power source) time trial. The Oberon team designs, constructs and race our hybrids each year.

We are nearly finished construction for 2005 this year we will have 2 teams entering Obe 1 and Obe 2. The main effort this year will be focused on training and driver skill.

In 2003 Oberon High first entered the RACV Energy Breakthrough. The first challenge of the year was to Build a hybrid this was not an easy task because we had never built one before. After a few months of design we started construction. Construction lasted for about six months. Our vehicle was built from the ground up from chrome-molly tubing and alloy running gears to maximise strength and minimise weight. The body consists of a vacuum formed polycarbonate nose cone and light weight paneling designed around the aerodynamic principles to minimise drag.
